Well another day another walk , we took Edward on his 2nd walk today and when we returned home we hopped in the car with him and drove over to the NICU (don't worry we didn't go in or even get out of the car) Dr. Lipsky was working (she was the doctor on when both boys were born and was also there the day William passed) she had not seen Edward since the middle of November, so she got to see how big he was and we had a nice chat with her. One of the best things that has come out of this NICU experience is all the life long friends we have made, people that we would have never known or talked to now are part of our and Edward's life forever!

Good news on eyes
Well as you can read below, Edward's eyes are both showing improvement but we still have away to go before we can say we are "out of the woods".
After the doctor's appointment Edward and I watched Empire strikes back, and then Return of the Jedi. He really seemed to like them both .
Tomorrow we are off to the heart doctor for a follow up on his surgically closed PDA heart valve.

Edward is all snug in his bed, hoping that Santa Claus leaves him lots of good presents..
We took Edward back to the lights again tonight and he sleep again! We had to wait over a hour in the car just to see the lights. See below Edward sleeping in the car and some of the beautiful houses.

Edward up again
Well went to Edward's regular doctor today and he said he looks great. Edward got 2 more shots in his legs, he has 2 more to get next week, boy I never realized how many shots kids get!
Edward weight today was up another 3 ounces putting him at 8 lbs 3 oz.
Time to rest and get ready for Xmas,. Edward must have been a really good boy this year, he must have at least 40 presents under the tree, oh boy we may have to add that addition onto the house after all, but not for Melissa's shoes. Instead we might have to add it for all of Edward's toy's and clothes !!!

8 pounds and growing
Today we saw Dr. T from the NICU and Edward's new weight is 8 pounds even and his new length is 19 1/4 inches!!! Go Edward go. Dr. T says Edward looks and sounds great . He said that if it was summer time then he would probably take Edward off oxygen but since we are in the "flu" season, he would like to keep it on until at least February, just as added insurance..
He says the only big thing we have left is the eyes, which we are working and and continue to pray and hope for the best .
After Edward and I got home we both took a nap in the living room, Melissa took a picture (see below).

Eye update
Left eye continues to get better
Right eye still border line. Doctor wants to give it one more week before he does laser surgery. Right now he would only do it to right eye. Left eye improving on its own.

Tuesday is a big day
Well we head back to the eye specialist again on Tuesday to see if his eyes are getting any better. I really hope that Edward does not lose his sight, because we want to be able to show him his older brother and tell him all about his incredible journey.
Look for an update around noon west coast time with a update on his eyes.
Oh we finally got the paid bill for the 2 helicopter rides that Edward took to LA in early September to fix his heart valve. Any guesses. (respond below to this blog in the comment section to make your guess) I will reveal the answer in a few days.
Wish us luck and keep us in your thoughts and prayers today
Thanks for everyone's help getting through this very difficult time. We can't wait for everyone to see and meet Edward!!!

Then on Wednesday we go the NICU clinical follow up appointment and on Thursday we go back to the Edward's regular doctor for his 4 month wellness check. Lots to do this week, other than getting ready for Santa.

4 months old
Well today Edward turned 4 months old and so would have William . Boy does time fly, I can't believe that just 4 short. Months ago both of the boys were born, mommy and daddy love you both so much.
Edward had a special visitor today's grandma Campbell got to see Edward for the first time since he was in the NICU, and he sure did love any minute of it.
Today Melissa and I put our tree, and Edward just looked at us wondering what this thing was that we were putting up in his house....

Continue to enjoy having Edward home
Well we continue to enjoy having Edward just 2 feet away instead of 1/2 mile away, and we continue to wait on egg shells for our next eye appointment on Wednesday...
On a lighter note, Edward has a new trick, he actually cries when he is hungry, well during the day , he actually ,if he had it his way, would get a bottle about once a hour throughout the day and sleep through the night , boy is he ever hard to wake up for his night time feeding, he must get that from his dad!
Boy can he ever eat, tonight at 9pm he took his whole bottle in 10 minutes, no joke.
Tomorrow we go back to the pediatrician for a follow up, he wants to see Edward once a week for awhile.
Edward turns 4 months old on Thursday, boy were has the time gone?

Not very good news today
Well the retinal specialist we saw today told us Edward has a stage 3 of 4 irregular blood vessel growth in both eyes, which means if it is not treated there is a 40% chance that Edward could go blind , but if laser surgery is required, which the doctor is not ready to call for yet (we have to go back on Wednesday) their is still a 20 % chance or 1 in 5 that Edward could still go blind. I wish this roller coaster ride would end already and we could enjoy being parents without all this medical stress....

Roller coaster ride continues
Will we thought the roller coaster ride was over, however not quite yet.
Today Edward had a routine eye exam and during the exam the doctor noticed that Edward's eyes were has he put it "different from the last time he saw him" ie worse, and wants us to go see a renal specialist from Beverly Hills tomorrow (Saturday). We are not exactly sure what any of this means, we are hoping to get some clarity tomorrow, so we know how bad they are and what they can do , we hope something can be done so Edward does not lose his ability to see us.
Why in the world can't ANYTHING go right for us!!!! Someday we are going to have a heck of a story to tell Edward about his first few years of life and hopefully he will be able to read for himself the journal that Melissa has been keeping.
Also I want to apology to nurse Kim, who I forgot to mention in the blog yesterday, came over to our house to watch Edward so both Melissa and I could run out to Sam's Club for some groceries. Thanks so much....
Well keep your fingers and toes crossed and the positive thoughts coming... We need them ALL
