Just a quick note
I just want to write a quick note to thank everyone who attended today's ceremony for William. Pastor Jeff did an outstanding job officiating the ceremony, thank you.

Another week gone
Well another week gone, time to spent some quality time with Edward and Melissa.
Tomorrow I may not blog due to the fact that we are having a private ceremony in remembrance of William and all he gave to us in his 10 short days.
Rest in Peace William and know that mommy, daddy and brother will never forget you!
Oh on a happier note, not sure I have mentioned that Melissa and I have decided to create a award in Williams's honor that we will give out each year to a deserving Geometry student at my school. The student will receive 50 dollars, a plaque and there name on a permanent plaque that will remain at my school.
We are calling the award, the William Kenneth Day award for excellence in Geometry, I will present it at promotion each year. Who knows maybe one year Edward can win the award named after his brother.

Edward is doing great, His therapist told Melissa he can do as much as a 5 month old, so we are only 2 months behind!!! We have already made up a month!!! Way to go little buddy!

Well one night down
Well Edward sleep great in his big boy crib last night, Melissa well not do much. Melissa did learn that an areo bed on the floor in his nursery might not be the best idea. She said it was hard to get up all the the time to check on him, so we are trying something new tonight. We are sleeping in our room and Edward in the nursery. Don't worry we have wireless cameras on so we can watch his every move from our bed!

First night in big crib
Well this is Edward's first night in his big boy crib, he out grew his bassinet.
Melissa is sleeping on the floor in his room to keep an eye on him and I have video camera watching him, so we have lots of eyes on him!
Edward overall continues to do great and had a, as Melissa put it, "an adult size poop today". She even took a picture of it, don't worry I am not going to start to post pictures of that on this blog or his web site.
Speaking of web site, I hope everyone has been enjoying edwardday.com, I am currently working on a total redesign of the site, which I hope to have up in a week or 2. It should make it much easier to find things and navigate the site. So look for that soon.
One last note, we are now oxygen tank free! The oxygen company came and picked everything up, so we have no extra medical equipment anymore!
Below is a picture of Edward petting his cat Kariya. He sure does love his cat. Oh for those of you how don't know, Kariya is named after a hockey player (Paul Kariya who use to play for the ducks)

One last day
I enjoyed my last full day with Edward and Melissa, tomorrow I head back to school :(.
I can't wait til summer break!!!!
All three of us spent the day just relaxing! We couldn't go outside due to the fact it was chilly and raining. Oh well.

Edward play date and picture update
Well first we got to preview our pictures today! We loved them, we sent a copy of them in an email. If we missed you and you want to see or have a copy of them please contact me at either

Edward also had his first play date today with his friend from the NICU Alex. Most of the time the boys took turns sleeping but we did have about 30 minutes when we laid them down next to each other and the appear to smile a little, not sure if the were smiling because they we happy to finally meet or for another reason. One of the blessing that we got out of this NICU experience of course is all the wonderful people we meant that we will be life long friends with. It is very difficult to try and explain to an outsider what emotional roller coaster we have experienced is like, but people that lived it too, can really relate to us at a level that is just very hard to explain. We are truly grateful to Dr. Lipsky for introducing us to some wonderful people at the NICU. Thank you for your friendship.
And if course thanks to all our friends, your friendship and support through this has made it a little easier to cope.

Almost there
Well Edward is getting closer to rolling over. Today I really thought he was going to do it. He got up on his side all by himself and started to throw his leg over but just could not figure out how to shift his weight. I practiced with him a few times, but he just has not caught on yet. Well tomorrow is another day.
Tomorrow we are heading back to the photographer to preview our pictures and make sections, so we should have some pictures soon on the web site for everyone to see.
Edward is also headed off to see one of his NICU friends, Alex. Edward and Alex both spent time together in the NICU and Melissa and I became goods friends with Alex's parents, so it will be nice to see them again and let the boys meet for the first time outside the NICU.

Great day with Edward
Well Edward and I had some quality one on one time today.( Melissa took her mom to the mall) we had great fun, we practice tummy time and played with his toy helicopter, even though he seem more interested in the Cessna 182 I have on top of the bookshelf in the living room .
We also went to the farmer's market in downtown Lancaster, we went Melissa and Grandma Campbell there.He loved just looking at all the people even though dad did a great job of keeping him away from big groups of people .
When we got home, Melissa started to give Edward his bottle and well he didn't really want it, until I suggested that we try to mix it up with his rice cereal. Well that did it, he eat it right up! I guess Edward has figured
out that the formula takes better with a little cereal mixed in! Oh boy is he ever a smart little boy!

Great day
Well Edward, Melissa and I had a great day. I guess I should tell everyone the surprise since Melissa already some of her side of the family. Well today the three of us went and had family pictures taken! We will get to preview them on Saturday so look for a new page on the web site soon!
I also got a chance to spent some quality time with Edward so what did I do, well what any dad of a future NHL superstar would, introduced him to a hockey net and explained to him what his job will be as goalie.(Melissa thinks he should be a goalie since he tends to kick his legs a lot (practicing kick saves she says) and it is also the only position were her little boy won't get check into the boards) I told her no he won't, instead he will he run into the net!

Busy day for Edward
Well Edward had a busy day. First he went to see Dr. Mor, then he took and rest and later in the evening he went to the NICU to see the night staff. Oh boy was everyone happy to see him! It was so nice to see everyone. Tomorrow Edward has a secret appointment that we will try everyone in a few days. (Nothing bad).

New Location and great news
Well by know everyone should know that edwardday.com has moved servers from Apple's mobile me servers (which will shut down on June 30th) to godaddy servers which will never shut down. I have noticed that the new servers are a little slower so I apologize in advance for that. I have also posted a video on the web site to show you how to put the edwardday.com app on your iPhone or iPad, so go check that out at edwardday.com.
Everything here is good, doctor's appointments went great, we got some great news today ! When Edward has his (minor surgery in LA sometime in July it is an outpatient surgery!!) hurray we won't have to stay down there!!! We are so excited about that one!
Tomorrow we are off to see Dr. Mor in LA, he is the doctor that helped us get pregnant with the boys and we want to stop by and see him to say hi and thanks again, and of course share with him the "story". Look for pictures tomorrow of Dr. Mor with Edward.

Edward visits the NICU
Well Edward went to the NICU to visit the doctors and nurses who helped him survive and get stronger. Edward also delivered another 2 boxes of books for the NICU library that Edward started for all the kids at the NICU .
Edward also went to see his uncle Hank and wish him a happy birthday!
Tomorrow Edward has 2 doctor's appointments so it will be an early day!

Busy week ahead
Well I am finally on break!! Hurray! Time to spent lots of quality time with Edward and Melissa! Melissa and I have a lot planned for next week from going to see the doctor who started it all to taking Edward down to the farmers market in Lancaster. Happy birthday Edward
Well today Edward celebrated another birthday! Edward is 7 months today!! Way to go little buddy. It is hard to believe that seven months ago! What a long road it has been!

Eye doctor update and day one is great
Today Edward returned to see Dr. Parks and everything looks great. As Melissa put it two thumbs up! Edward does not have to go back for 3 months!
Day one of no oxygen went great!! We are sure enjoying carrying Edward around without a tank!
Edward continues to talk more and more each day, and he proved to me tonight that he is truly a mommy's boy!
Tonight when Melissa left to go to the YMCA to work out Edward started to tell Ma ma ma, he was not crying but calling out for his mom. It didn't matter what I did he wanted his mommy. Finally after like 20 minutes Edward gave up went to sleep on me. He woke up the moment he heard is mom come home !

Breaking news
Well by now most of you know that Edward passed his room air Test and he is off oxygen! It was kind of sad in away however for 2 reasons, one we had to say good bye to Dr. T who we so much to! Second, the last time Edward was without any oxygen support was the day he was born and William was still with us. Rest in peace William, mommy, daddy and little brother love you so much!
Tomorrow Melissa is off to Dr. Parks for another eye exam which we hope will be one of the last he will need, but only time will tell. So anyone who thinks it is smooth sailing doesn't fully understand all that Edward still needs to accomplish!
