Welcome to parenthood

Well I guess that Melissa and I are "officially" parents. Let me explain:
Yesterday when we picked Edward up we got a paper that said he might have been exposed to pink eye. Yesterday he was fine until about 9pm when we noticed he had a 102 degree temp. We freaked out gave him baby tylenol and called the doctor's message service not knowing what to do. The doctor returned our call told us to "calm down" and told us to come see him tomorrow. Well his temp went down today and guess what showed up, pink eye!!! See picture below. The poor kid, he was in daycare for 3 days and got a cold and punk eye already!!!! Can't wait to see what next week brings!!!
Oh the pink eye is fine, the doctor gave us done eye drops and told us it should be cleared up in 2-5 days....

Long day

Sorry to make this short, long day at school helping Melissa. Edward fine and Kariya is doing great. Last day at school tomorrow until Tuesday. Goodnight

Edward goes to see GI doctor, Dr Mor and the NICU

Well we had a busy day today. First we headed to see a GI doctor in Enicino CA to see if he could help explain why Edward refuses to eat any solid foods yet. We have a swallow study pending with UCLA in September, so I guess we will get to see all three bug children's hospitals in LA after all.
After the appointment with the GI doctor we walked down to see Dr. Mor who was two building down. He was the doctor who helped get up pregnant with the boys. He was so happy to see us and how well Edward was sound.
After that we headed back to Lancaster to work on Melissa's classroom for awhile. We then headed home so Edward could take a nap, and then off to the AV NICU we went ( Dr. Lipsky had a birthday present for Edward)
Boy does Edward ever get a lot of attention from everyone at the NICU every time he visits. Then we headed home, we feed Edward and gave him a bath and off to dream land he went. Boy I am getting tired just writing this. (Below is a picture of Dr. Lipsky and Edward together at the NICU)
Oh and one final note, we heard from the Vet today and they finally figured out what was wrong and it is treatable!!! Hurray!!

Second day better than first

Edward's second day of day care went much better. He actually sleep this time and was in a much better mood when we picked him up.
We are off tomorrow to Encino CA to see a GI doctor for a swallow study to see why Edward won't take solid food yet. We are also going to stop by and see Dr. Mor who helped us get pregnant with the boys.

First day in the books, bye Kariya

Well Edward's first day at day care was successful. He did ok, didn't want to sleep very much and was very crappy when he got home, but overall a success. I have updated edwardday.com photo page to include photos of Edward's first day at daycare and pictures of Edward with Kariya as we think that we might have to say goodbye to a very loyal and great cat. No one seems to be able to figure out why she won't eat and why she throws up. So we are waiting on one last test result and if it still shows nothing, then the vet is pretty sure she probably has cancer. Another love one lost to cancer, when will this bad luck stop for us. First The boys being born WAY early, then William dying, and then of course saying goodbye to UCONN. all in the past year. WHEN WILL IT END.....

Last day with Edward before school William remembered

Well we spend out last full day with Edward today before he starts day care in the morning. I think I am more nervous about tomorrow than I have ever been for any of my first days of school. We just have to believe in and trust the staff at the Sonshine Factory and know that his big brother is always watching over him.
Speaking of his big brother William, today in church Melissa and I donated the money for the flowers in remembrance of William, see the picture below of his flowers.

I just want to thank everyone personally for allowing us a few days of peace and quiet as we remembered William and enjoyed our lady few full days with Edward. As they say, we are back open for business (calls).
As many if you know, our cat Kariya has been very sick, however this weekend see seemed to improve a lot until we found a lot of throw up under her cat bed, hopefully the vet will have some answers for us tomorrow with her latest blood test results. We live her do much...(Kariya)

Tough day

Sorry no long blog tonight, today was very tough for us, especially at 2:50 pm, that actually time William died.We all held hands and had a good cry, then we talked about William and all he did for Edward in his short time here with us. RIP William Kenneth Day, you are and will always be Edward's big brother!

1 year ago

One year ago at this very moment, we were getting a call from the NICU as we got home that William is not good, come to find out he had died and Dr. Lipsky and staff somehow brought him back so we could say goodbye.

Edward

Well nothing really to big to report from today. Eye therapy went well, she told me that Edward can do everything a full term one year can do. Which was great news. Edward also started to move a little. He goes to one side reaches out roll to the other side reached out, kind of like an army crawl in his sides I guess. He also for the first time went from sitting up position to crawling position on his own. We are getting close to a full out crawl!!!!

The news on Kariya is still not good, more tests and still they can't figure out what her issue is. The vet is bring to think she has cancer. This may be the last few days we have with her, we are going to try and get some pictured of Edward hanging out a playing with her, since we never thought this would happen do fast!

Edward visits mommy

Well today Edward went to school to visit mommy and bring her lunch. He was sure happy to see her and of course we were happy to see her as well. (Below is a picture of Edward in one of mommy's chairs)
Edward also went to a spaghetti dinner to help the young marines that our friend Kim's son is part of. His favorite part is when the LA county fire showed up with there ladder truck to show to the kids. Did he ever go crazy!! Boy does he like fire trucks, he only has one toy fire truck but daddy will get him more when he gets a little older.

Bad news on the Kariya front, it is looking like more and more that we may have to put her to sleep, the vet just can't figure out was is wrong with her and we can't afford the vet bills, especially with Edward starting day care soon. Unfortunately since we of modest income, we are forced to choice between Edward and Kariya and Edward comes out ahead. We will miss little Kariya, that is unless the Vet calls Dr. House (for house on fox) and they can figure out what is wrong with her without it costing us another 1000 plus dollars. I just don't want to give up on her but we don't have the resources she needs unfortunately. I guess we are going to end up losing a son and two cats in one year . What a terrible year!!!

Edward and dad time

Well today Edward and I got a chance to spend the whole day together as Melissa was at her new school unpacking. We played with the Megablocks, took a nap. Played some more, took another nap, played some more, eat dinner and went to bed. What a great day!!! Tomorrow we get another chance to do it all over again!
Count down update: 5 days to daycare and 3 days till the Day of days!!!

Off to fair

Well Edward went off to the fair tonight with grandma Campbell. Boy did he love looking at the animals and riding the carousel !!! I took lots of pictures that I will try and upload to the web site tomorrow. I am having a little computer issues with my MacBook so I am unable to do it currently, however below is a taste.
As I asked yesterday, Melissa and I would really appreciate if people could just give us some time to ourselves the next few days as we prepare to deal with something that is hard enough to deal. Thank you.... And on top of all that our cat is not doing really well, so that is not helping anything.
Imagine how you would feel it you lost a cat and a son in the same year and a possibility of losing a second cat. We would really appreciate a few days of peace. Thank you for understanding

A very difficult day approaches

Well Edward is doing great. Today he went to church then came home and when his grandma Campbell came over, he showed her all his new toys. He has way way way to many toys.
For Melissa and I the most difficult day in a year is approaching so we would ask for your support, but to allow done space for the week as we get ready to remember the one year mark of William's passing, please give us some space..

Edward, mommy and daddy are very tired

We are all very tired still from the MEGA party. For those of you who tired to view thw video of Edward's first year of life and were unable to view it, it is all fixed, goto youtube.com/daytwins to find it.
Today Edward did go to his first parade today, we found out this morning that there is a fair parade, so we rushed over , meant our friend Kim and watched the parade. Did Edward ever love just looking at everything.
Tomorrow his grandma Campbell is coming over to see all of his presents from his birthday, did he ever get a lot, thanks again to everyone for making the birthday such a great success !
Oh and the count down has started to when Edward goes to day care , 8 days and counting!

Site updated finally movie uploaded

Ok first, I finally updated edwardday.com to include all the pictures from his MEGA birthday party, so please go check them out! They are on a new page called 1st b-day, look for it alone the top of the page.
I have also uploaded the day boys movie to their channel on you tribe, it is split into 2 parts due to size and time restrictions on you tube. You can go to YouTube.com/daytwins to watch their movie, but please back sure you have about 30 minutes and some tissues as the beginning is very sad.
Edward's new weight is 17 pounds 2 oz and his length is 28.5 inches, he is in the normal range for os actual age of 1 year old, which is amazing considering how early he was!!!!

We say goodbye

Today Edward said goodbye to his grandma and grandpa Day and his great aunt and uncle Waters and cousin Greg. Edward sure loved all the attention he was getting. We finally got cleaned up from the MEGA birthday party, thanks again to Larry and Debbie for allowing us to have the birthday party at their house.
Tomorrow Edward is off to the doctor for his 12 month check up.so be sure to check the blog tomorrow for his new weight and length.
I also want to apologized for not updating the web site as much as I have been, the MEGA birthday party has taken a lot of my attention, but tomorrow after we get back from the doctors look for lots of new content.. It is hard to believe

It is hard to believe that one year ago at this exact moment, I am writing this blog, I was with Melissa in the Labor and Delivery hospital holding her hand at each contraction and praying to god that somehow someway he could save our boys!!! In the end he saved them enough so that we could hold them and love them and give William more live then some people get in a life time. I still to this day, don't understand why William had to leave us do early, but I know that he is looking out for his little brother.
Tomorrow will be a bitter sweet day for us, we will celebrate the one year old birthday of Edward and mourn the fact that William is not with us. I miss you William and love you more than I can express in this blog.

New pictures and lots to do

Well Edward had pictures taken today with his grandma and grandpa Day at JC Penneys, bit did they turn out great! See a sample below, I will do my best ringer them uploaded by tomorrow might but no promises with the Mega birthday party just a few days away. Speaking of that a year ago tonight (the 13th) was the last night that the joys spent cooking in Melissa at home, the whole NICU experience started tomorrow at 2:56 when Dr. Lipsky came into the ER and introduced herself and said she would do her very best to help the boys. A year later in is amazing to think all that she and everyone at the NICU did! We did lose William as his body was not not developed enough but they did somehow save Edward 's life, and we will always be in debt to them for that.

Dillion

Edward went to his buddy Dillion's today for his birthday party! Dillion turned 2! The two boys are so sweet, Dillion always says how much he likes Edward and always gives Edward a big huge when he leaves, it is so touching! Tomorrow we are headed over to the Salter's to start and prepare for the MEGA party on Wednesday, hope to see everyone there... Remember the party is not at our house, please chuck your invitations for the address.

Granda ma and grandpa Day

Well Edward's grandparents have arrived safety to help us get ready for the biggest one year old birthday party you are ever going to see.
Edward also continues to get presents in the mail everyday, today he got his gift card from the Oaks family and he also got presents from his aunt Chris and Char. Thank to everyone who hags sent Edward presents, we are do sad that you ate unable to attend Edward's party :(.

Doctor visit went well getting ready

Well the doctor's appointment went well today I guess. If Edward had been born when he was suppose to he would be right on pace with the rest of the class, but for some reason he has to keep up with the kids is actual age. I still don't get that, if he acts like the age he should be then what is the big deal? It is like telling a new born that they need to act like a 4 month old! Does that make any sense?
Well to celebrate how well the appointment went, Edward broke out his Miami Dolphins jersey in preparations for a new NFL season... See picture below. Well lots to do tomorrow, need to clean the house, cut the grass and pick up as grandma and grandpa Day will be here tomorrow...

Abby tries

Well today Edward got to FaceTime (video chat) with his two cousins in PA. Boy do they ever love Edward. Today while they were showing Edward all of their toys, Edward got so excited at their talking Elmo, he almost went through the screen. He loved it. Abby also tired to show Edward how to sit up once he falls down, but he is still trying to get the hang of that. He almost managed to do it,(he got up about 80% of the way before giving up). Oh well he will get it soon.
Edward also face timed with Grandma and Grandpa Day, he showed them how well he can take off his rings from his ring toy, putting them back well that is another chore he needs to work on.
Tomorrow we are headed down to Cedars Sinai for Edward's development appointment with Dr. Cotton, he will be able to tell us if Edward is progressing at a rapid enough of a pace.

Birthday shipping and new toy

Well today we finished the birthday shopping for Edward. Oh boy is it going to be a great day. I just hope the weather holds up and it does not rain or get too hot. I can even tell you everything we have purchased for the party. We spent a lot of money but Edward only has one first birthday.
Edward also got a new toy in the mail yesterday and does he ever love to play it. See the picture below of him playing with his new toy.
Edward also rolled in the same direction today to try and get a toy. It is a start, before you know it he will be crawling.

Another day another pool party

Well Edward went to yet another pool party today. Boy does he ever love the water. I hope he enjoys the water when he skates on it as much as when he swims in it. Preparations continue for Edward's birthday blow out. I hope if you are reading this that you will be able to share in our day of celebration and remembrance.
Edward also started to receive birthday presents from people who can't make the party. He got 5 boxes in today. He had so much that we had both mailbox keys for big boxes in our mailbox. We have never had both!!!

Edward swims at friends movie update

Well Edward went swimming today at Kim's house. A really good friend who was one of the nurses who cared for Edward while he was at the NICU. After a swimming Edward showed nurse Kim a rare cut of his movie.
Then we headed to the mall to meet my former student Karen, who had a birthday present for Edward. (see picture below )
We had such a great time today, tomorrow we have the therapy and then we head to our district office for a meeting, can you believe that school us almost here!!

Relaxing day

Well Edward spent a relaxing day at home. Nothing really exciting today as we continue to prepare for Edward's first birthday party. The movie is nearly done, just about 30 minutes left of editing and then it will be ready for its world premiere. We will have tissues available at the party for those of you how made it them. I will also we uploading it to the daytwins you tube channel after the 15th which is YouTube.com/daytwins. I will put a link on edwardday.com once it is uploaded. Goodnight

Movie done food bought

Well the movie is done!!! It took me over 10 + hours over the last 2 days to finish it but it is done. Can't wait for everyone to see it.
We also bought most of the food for the big birthday party on the 15th. If you have not already RSVP mom@edwardday.com, please do so ASAP. We need to know how many people to expect.

Dad turns 40 day boys movie

Well yesterday was a very depressing day for me, as I turned 40 and only a few people from my family even bothered to call me and wish me happy birthday. What is up with that?
Anyway, that is one of the many reasons there was no blog yesterday.
On to other news. The Day Boys movie is nearly done, just have a little editing to do and then it will be ready for its grand premiere at the Birthday party on the 15th. We have decided to have two formal showing of the movie. One at 3:45 and the other at 5:00pm. That way everyone will hopefully be able to see it. The movie is well over 30 minutes so get there early to get a good seat.
Edward continues to grow like a weed. It is hard to believe how small he was when he was born.
