Fun Night

Well Edward sure had a fun night. He went over to see our friend Barabara. She showed him all her animals, which he loved. She too out one of her horses so that he could ride him (SEE PICURE BELOW and she the picture page on Edwardday.com, click on the july 2013 album). She took him for a ride on the tractor and had him help her feed the horses and gave him a ride back.

Also if you have not heard, today was a BIG DAY in the Day house. Edward decided that today was going to be the day he just would walk on his own all over the house. He decided to do it at OT and boy did he ever get a lot of high fives, see picture below. Later in the day, he just continued to walk all over by himself. He is still a little shaky but he is getting better every time, and are just so so happy....

Great news

Edward is a walker!!!!! He decided at OT this morning that he wanted to walk. He still is a little wobbly but he is walking. 

 

Hearing loss

Well as you probably already know, Edward has Mild to Moderate hearing loss. With this loss it may be correctable with a surgical procedure or if worse case scenario he wears a hearing aids his entire life. I was really upset to hear this news as I broke down crying that yet another obstacle is our way. However Melissa turned to me and said, "I am happy, we have a happy and healthy young man, who was born at 23 weeks and should not be nearly this healthy". As I have that statement some thought, I realize that she is right, Edward is a blessing from God, and we should be thankful for every day we have with him, because medically he should not even be alive. Thank you Melissa for shaking me out of my depression.

Below is the cutest picture I ever took of Edward and Melissa. It is a picture of the two of them walking hand and hand out of LA Children's Hospital today. You might notice a dog in Edward's arm, that was what he picked out at the gift shop at LA Children's Hospital. Every time I look at this picture it makes me want to cry...

Test results

Edward has hearing loss, might need hearing aids. We have to go back for another test. 

Great therapy day and fun day outside

Well Edward had a great session on OT and speech today. He ate a hot dog and some of a sandwich and at speech the therapist took him to a mirror where he said all kinds of sounds that she never heard from him before. She even got him to say hi a little and bye. Boy is he really starting to catch up with speech and OT. Know if he would only WALK ALREADY!!! We did get him to walk outside a little, see pictures below. Maybe he just needs more people as an audience to walk.. Not sure...

Well tomorrow is the big trip to LA Children's hospital for his hearing follow up, I ail try and post something on this blog from LA Children's once we know something. Well wish us luck..

Great fun at park

Well we went back to the dog park again, but this time we meant Edward's friend Luke there. They both had a great time and Luke's mom walked around with the boys for awhile. (See picture below) Other than that, it was a relaxing and restful day at the Day house. This coming week is a busy one for us. The busiest day being Tuesday, as we head down to LA Children's Hospital for Edward's hearing appointment. Edward can hear, but during a hearing test up here the doctor thinks Edward might only be able to hear 60-70% of what he hear. SO we are going to LA Children's to see if this is true and what can be down to help this lost. One thing to remember however is Edward had his hearing screening during his sinus troubles which could definitely affect the outcome of his hearing test. So we are hopeful that with the adenoids surgery that maybe the hearing loss can gone away, but knowing our luck, this is probably not the case, since nothing comes easy when it comes to Edward's health.

Well nothing really excited today. We are trying our best to get Edward to walk.. He just needs more confidence, which I guess will come with time. Well sorry to make this short, but nothing really new to write about.. Well goodnight

Edward takes charge

Well Edward did great at his therapy. He is doing so well trying to catch up. We know he has big gaps but we are hopeful that he will be able to catch up by age 3.
Tonight, while Edward was having his breathing therapy, his mask came off, but not because he pulled it off, it just slide down the back of his head, so instead of ripping it off, he held it, so he could finish his breathing therapy. What a good boy Edward is.

As edwardday.com approaches it 15,000 view (The current version has 8500 or so hits, and the old me.com/daytwins (the original website for the boys) had 6000 hits before it was taken off line, I am developing a surprise for the site, to celebrate his occasion. So please look for more details in the weeks to come. At the current view rate of edwardday.com (around 50 page views a day) we should hit 15,000 sometime in late October.

Busy day come to an end

Well our very busy day is finally over.
Here is the recap:

7:30-8:30- Developmental therapy at our house, which went great (All the therapist tell us Edward is right at about 2 years old for everything , except the walking thing. LET GO ALREADY!!)

9-11- Nap

11:30-1:30- Double OT session at the Looking Forward Clinic in Palmdale (Therapy went really well, Edward eats about everything and he even got a chance to go in the ball pit again and to jump on the trampoline, well Edward's version of jumping see pictures below)

2:00-2:30- Follow up with Doctor in regards to Edward Surgery Last week. The doctor was shocked as to how cleaned out his sinus look, he was very pleased, and told us to come back for a follow up in 6 weeks! He also told us that Edward's bad breath, he has really bad breath, will go away in the next few days. He also told us that Thursday and Friday will probably be Edward's worse 2 days before we see him getting back to "normal". (Edward was a little off today, as we could tell something was bothering him)

3-6- Dinner and play time at our house;

6-7- Fun again at the park, we took Edward to a new park, and he really seemed to like it.

and of course 7-8 Bath and Cereal and then

8ish which turned into 9- Bedtime

Well that is a recap of our VERY VERY BUSY Day. Tomorrow night we are off to Palmdale's Marie Kerr Park, to meet his friend Luke and to watch Toy Story outside on a BIG SCREEN.

Melissa also told Edward an I that she has booked our little Family vacation. We are leaving August 4th- and will return August 8th, just in time for Edward's birthday family BBQ.

Won't tell you were we are going, it is a secret. A birthday present for both Edward and I..

Another fun day

Well nothing really exciting happening in Lancaster today. Just more time spent enjoying Edward. We both love him so much and can't believe that in jut over 3 weeks he will be 2! Oh boy does time ever fly. We also can't believe in just over 2 weeks we have to go back to work which means Edward has to go back to daycare :( . I really don't think he is going to like that very much. I truly believe that he is really enjoying having both his parents home.
Well tomorrow we have a very busy day. We have therapy at the house at 7:30, then we have to drive down to the center in Palmdale from 11:30-1:30 for OT make up from this week, and finally at 2:00 pm we have a follow up doctor's visit in regards to Edward's surgery. So it is going to be a very busy day. I am getting tired just thinking about it. Well need to goto bed and rest up for a very busy Thursday.

Edward's first ball game

Well, since Edward is doing so great from recovering from surgery, we decided to take him to his first baseball game tonight. See pictures below. He did pretty good, he got a little hungry, and you can't let him get hungry or he will let you have it.
He lasted for 90 minutes and he we so pleased. Melissa brought some food with us for him and we even gave him a few fries and chicken tenders that we bought for dinner. Way to go, now if we could only figure out away to make him walk all the time.

Another Fun Night at the Park

Well we took Edward again to another park so he could go cruising in his car. Check out some of the pictures below.
Well Edward is doing so well recovering from surgery that we decided to goto OT tomorrow morning. We originally cancelled all his therapies through Wednesday, but have decided to go ahead and go..

Edward recovering nicely, great trip to the park

Well Edward continues to recover nicely from his surgery. He gets a little upset, due to the pain we think, through out the day, but thanks to Tylenol it seems to go away quickly.
Well since Edward has not been out of the house since Friday, we decided to take him to the dog park to play in the grass and on the play ground. Well, as most of you know by the previous post, Edward's surgery went great. He came home very sleepy but by 3 he was back to his normal ready to destroy the house self.

Surgery a success

Surgery is over, Edward did great!!! We got home a little before noon. Edward is sleepy but is waking up a little more every hour.

Edward Gets a Haircut

Well today we took Edward to get a hair cut before his surgery Friday. See picture below.
Tomorrow we head to Ridgecrest to see Dr. Edward J McPherson so he can meet his namesake, Edward J Day. Look for pictures tomorrow of Edward with his namesake. Just one more full day before Edward's surgery, we are praying and hoping it goes better than his surgery did last summer, when he won't wake up and we thought we might get admitted into Children's hospital in LA.
Well time to get some sleep, we have a long drive tomorrow to Ridgecrest..

feet get bigger

Well at PT today, Edward refused to walk at all. We just didn't know why. The therapist seemed very concerned as were we. Well to make a long story short, after his nap he started walking around a little again, so we thought it was just him being tired. Then I started thinking of what the difference was between this morning and after his nap. Other than him not being as tired, I also noticed he no longer had his shoes on, since we removed them for his nap. Well I put them back on, well tired to and noticed something, they were too small. Poor kid, we were trying to get him to walk in shoes that were too small. IT WAS THE SHOES.. So we ran down to the mall and got him 2 size 5 pairs of shoes. OMG, the size four shoes didm't last long, maybe know we can get him to walk as well as he was last week.

Great day

Well we had a great day today, first Edward had a great OT and speak therapy session, then we decided to go out to breakfast, and for the first time we ordered Edward something off the kids menu, and well he sort of ate it, see picture below. After breakfast we came home and place with Edward and had lots of fun. Later in the day I gave Edward Ritz crackers again and he loved them, see the picture below.
As I said previously in this blog, I recently completed Edward's two year old video which will make its world premiere on August 9th, before I upload it to you tube. ( Look fro a trailer in the next day or two).
Well, as I created the new movie, I could not believe how much Edward changed over the past year see a comparison pictures below, boy has he ever gotten big..

Fun Night

Well we had a great day and night. First Edward went to church again and went around saying hi to everyone with pastor Jeff, see picture below. He sure does love all the attention he gets everywhere.
After we got home from church, Edward took a great nap. When he got up, he decided to eat some tacos, turkey tacos that mom made him, oh boy did he love them, see picture below and see the video I uploaded to his youtube channel, here is the link:

After lunch we played and played and played. Edward also got to facetime with his Uncle Gary in North Carolina. After the chat, we decided to take Edward to Chuck E Cheese to meet our friends Natalie, Hank and Luke. Oh boy did Edward love it there. After Chuck E Cheese, we came home, did Edward's normal routine and tried to put him to bed, but he had one final thing he wanted to do, When Melissa went in to rock him he started talking away to her, all she could understand was mama and some words and then dada and some words, I guess he wanted to tell him mom all about the fun he had at Chuck E Cheese. Well that is it, goodnight..

Edward tried pudding, no more changer

Well first, we finally moved the changer out of Edward's room and moved the toy box in. It was a very sad day, as it means Edward is growing up. We really can't believe that in 2 short days he is 23 months old and in just over a month he is 2! Oh boy does time fly.
Well Edward continues to try all sorts of new foods, he recently had chocolate pudding, see the picture below for the outcome.

One more thing, as many of you can remember, last year at Edward's birthday party I showed for the first time the movie The Day Boys. Showing the story behind the story of Edward and of course his brother William. Well it is my great Pleasure to announce the completion of The Day Boys 2 or as I call it Edward's second year of life. I will be giving a premiere showing of it On August 9th. After I have given the premiere showing to everyone, I will be uploading it to his youtube channel. I can say that this movie is much happier than last year's edition. Well goodnight.

T Minus 7 Days

Let the count down begin. Edward has 7 days to go before he has sinus surgery. Today we meant with the doctor that told us the whole process from when Edward leaves us to when we see him again should be about 1 1/2 hours. Then he will be in recovery for about 2 hours before he  hopefully be released to go home.  We got medication today from his doctor for after his surgery, so we are getting ready for the big day. 

Nothing else new here, just enjoying our vacation. On top of the surgery next week, we have a trip to Melissa's hip surgeon to check on her hip. Nothing is wrong just a routine, bi-yearly check. The only reason I mention it is, Edward is named after her doctor, so it will be the first time that Edward J Day will meet Edward J McPherson. So it will be a big moment next Thursday. Well goodnight.

Cleared fro Surgery

Well Edward has his preOp today and he is cleared for surgery. Tomorrow we meet with his doctor to go over the procedure and get any questions answer we have, and then of course next Friday Edward has, what we are hoping will be, and very speedy but successful surgery.

Big Day

The other big event is at the kitchen table tonight, we were feeding him puffs and he said Mo, mo. mo, and continued to do it every time he ran out of puffs. Mo, means more.. Way to go Edward, here is a video of him doing it, you have to listen carefully but it is there. Well goodnight.

Well news

Well the news of the day is of course that Edward has a surgery date, July 19th, but the bigger news of the day is that at PT today Edward walked all by himself from the living room to the kitchen and back, with someone next to him of course for support. We started with having him walk with a push toy that has no support and then went from there.
